Polish may sometimes be perceived as a somewhat obscure language but it is the native language of Nicholas Copernicus, Joseph Conrad, Maria Curie and Fredric Chopin, and the adopted language of the eminent historian Professor Norman Davies and the famous violinist Nigel Kennedy. It may sound rather surprising but Polish and English have actually got quite a lot in common – both languages belong to the same broad family of Indo-European languages, both have been heavily influenced by Latin and Greek, and Polish has adopted a lot of English vocabulary.

This 1-hour digital taster course is for beginners who are new to the Michel Thomas Method. Learn over 50 essential words at the heart of Polish and how to put them together to make yourself understood. From the very beginning you will be able to construct simple phrases by listening and thinking out answers for yourself. During the course, you will join Michel Thomas Method teacher and native speaker Jolanta Joanna Watson and 2 students in a live lesson. The course will take about 3-4 hours to complete and is available to stream or download via the Michel Thomas Method Library app. It is the first hour of the Foundation course.

Foundation Polish is an 8-hour digital course which breaks the language down into building blocks in such a way that you listen, speak, respond and then move on to ever-more-complex sentences. Michel Thomas Method teacher Jolanta Joanna Watson is a native speaker, and this will help you tackle pronunciation as you join her and 2 students in a live lesson. Within the first hour you will be able to construct simple sentences. By the end of the course, you will have the confidence to understand and speak basic Polish. You will learn at your own pace, pausing and repeating where necessary, and complete the course in about 20-30 hours. This course is available to stream or download via the Michel Thomas Method Library app.

Intermediate Polish is the next step in your language journey and follows on from the Michel Thomas Method Foundation Polish course. You will learn and understand the difference between formal and informal speech and, while you’ll learn some travel phrases, you’ll also be able to converse on everyday topics. Your understanding of Polish will deepen as your knowledge expands to include simple grammar, introduced in logical building blocks with the same no-pens, no memorizing method. This digital course will be completed in 15-20 hours and is available to stream or download via the Michel Thomas Method Library app.
